Description:
Course 1041: Creating Well-formed Metadata in caDSR provides learners with the rules and specifications for curating meaningful, well-defined metadata. It provides insight and guidance for naming conventions and creating definitions. The use of workflow and registration status is discussed in detail.
Credit for the Course: In order to receive credit for this course, you will need to register for course 1040 by contacting NCI CBIIT Application Support and obtain a score of 80% or higher on the 1041 accompanying quiz.
Objectives:
- Describe the ISO/IEC 11179 administered items that make up a data element
Discuss the details of administered item naming conventions and how to apply them when creating metadata in caDSR
Build names for data element concepts, value domains and data elements using the ISO/IEC 11179 standard as a template
Create meaningful definitions for data elements
Understand how data element concepts and value domains can be reused to create new data elements
Choose an appropriate workflow status for administered items
Discuss the different registration statuses and how they are related to data elements in caDSR

- 1030 Introduction to Enterprise Vocabulary Services (EVS)
Course 1042: Versioning Rules for Metadata and Creating Derived Data Elements provides learners with the versioning rules required to maintain well-formed metadata. The specification for curating derived data elements using the CDE Curation Tool is provided.
