Metrics provide a way of quantitatively and periodically measuring and assessing the quality of metadata in the caDSR. Metrics will also strengthen the reuse of metadata, permit NCI CBIIT to monitor caDSR content over time, and demonstrate the need for resources to be applied to content improvement.

Objectives

  • Establish a baseline to determine current metadata quality
  • Identify critical and high-volume problems for cleanup
  • Assign priority for cleanup and/or harmonization
  • Document progress in cleanup efforts
  • Establish key performance measures and targets
  • Monitor adherence to business rules and best practices over time
