  • If that existing collection has been configured to contain another collection, you can add a collection. 
  • If that existing collection has been configured to contain data files, you can add files.

The dm_register_collection and dm_register_directory commands are similar. Both can upload files and metadata from your file system to DME, thereby creating collections and data files. However, keep in mind how each command uploads metadata:

  • The dm_register_collection command can upload metadata from a single JSON file that lists all of the data you are uploading.
  • The dm_register_directory command can upload metadata from multiple JSON files, one for each data file you are uploading. 

You can also rename a collection or data file using the CLU.
