Activities completed this month
  1. Demo docker submissions to Emily Townley who is designing a MIDRC challenge. I should have a non-gpu and a gpu submission ready soon:
    1. Currently I am signed in to the DTI Azure Active Directory. I need this to access and create resources for the MIDRC challenge. Now that we intend to test gpus out we want to test on a non-MedICI subscription.
    2. Steps to complete:
      1. Deploy GPU VM through DTI subscription
      2. Test out submissions and have MIDRC folks test them as well
      3. Make some changes to UX workflow for dockersubmimssions
  2. Kheops report is finalized and we just received word from Joel (from Kheops) that the
Planned for next monthContinue opening older challenges listed on
  1. OHIF only saves length measurements. I will add that detail to the report and hand off to Ulli.
  2. Didn't quite get around to fixing he codalab deployment on nci's network. A docker issue crept up again and I had to wait for Kevin Olexa to disable "cylancecsv", some sort of anti-virus software.
  3. Setup up highlight system on
https://
  1. medici-challenges.org to indicate which challenges still accept submissions.
  2. Setup  Dr. David Newitt's BMMR2: Breast Multiparametric MRI for prediction of NAC Response challenge (https://qin-challenge-acrin.centralus.cloudapp.azure.com/competitions/2).
  3. Setup Dr. Mazurowski's 2nd part of his challenge (https://spie-aapm-nci-dair.westus2.cloudapp.azure.com/competitions/6).
Planned for next month
  1. Continue the Federated Learning Document about integrating MedICI and Federated Challenges.
    1. Document is pending some additional notes. We are currently working with ACR (American College of Radiology) to deploy some Federated Learning clients and servers and this will greatly help me understand the complexities involved with setting up Federated learning challenges. Next month hopefully I'll have a better idea of what goes into setting up a system like this.
  2. Submit an ePoster to AAPM by the end of June
  3.  so that people can still make submissions. (wrap up SPIE AAPM from above)
    1. I've been busy with MDRC project to fine tune the docker submission main platform and haven't had a chance to change code to add a phase. To elaborate, whatever code base I used for this codalab doesn't have an "add phase" button and so the only way to keep it open is to have the validation phase open indefinitely. This is related to 2 (a) (i ) from above under Completed This Month.
  4. Investigate Federated Learning Challenges (https://wiki.nci.nih.gov/display/NICC) presentation from Daniel Rubin, July 6th (under Presentations and Recordings from Previous Calls)
    1. Jayashree and I met with Daniel and they have a plan. The plan is to first spin up some VMs and perform the basic federated learning concepts Daniel has already built a framework for.
    2. Soon he will be reaching out and we will perform this.
    3. Begin the Federated Learning Document by integrating MedICI and Federated Challenges tech and some theoretical ideas for implementation.
  5. Add indication on website (medici-challenges.org) which challenges accept submissions.
    1. Pending completion. It's been a very busy month and adding this felt like a lower priority. Based on a discussion with Ulli and Carolyn, I will establish an appropriate priority.
  6. Ping Dr. Mazurowski on new 2nd part of his challenge.
