1. Perform a search for the data file, as described in Searching for Data via the GUI (or run a saved search from the Dashboard). The Data File Search Results page appears. 
2. Select the source file:
   • If you want to select just one source file, click the link icon () in the row for that file. The Create Link page appears.

   • If you want to select multiple files, select each source file in the selection column and click the link icon above the list. The Create Link page appears.

3. Specify the parent collection path (the destination location for the link). 
4. Click Submit. The response from the system depends on your selection:
   • If you clicked the link icon above the list of files, the system displays a "Link creation request submitted" message and adds an entry to the Manage Registration Tasks page. Depending on your event subscriptions, the system might send you an email notification with details about the link creation.  For For instructions on subscribing, refer to Subscribing to Download and Registration Notifications.
   • If you clicked the link icon in the row for one file, the system displays a "Link creation was successful" message.
