Something our team did well is... |
- List anything that went well in this sprint including shout out to others that went out of their way to help (add your name after your comment or feel free to keep it annonymous)
- Design QA, improve the visibility and addressing 508 compliance issue. (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] )
- QA team testing all the edge cases (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] )
- Global search query and cases sensitive issue (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] )
- Deployment issues are always a team effort and this instance was no exception. I appreciate the way our team works together to solve problems and I know ...worked together to implement and test the new, improved API outage error handling in interoperation and on the front end. Hopefully this marks the end of interoperation causing the Studies page to crash . (Miller, Eric (NIH/NCI) [C]) Really fun and helpful to work with Ying, Ming , Ngu, Charles (NIH/NCI) [C] , and Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] worked especially hard to get everything figured out. With that said I really appreciate Fleming, Michael (NIH/NCI) [C] and Udosen, Toyo his unwavering support and guidance. (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] to troubleshoot the issues with importing a file manifest to the CGC. ( )
- Thanks to Ambar, Karan, Mike, Charles, Austin and Gina for your help/patience with the backend global search work. (Miller, Eric Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])I was very excited that I was given approval to share the actual SOW with the team
- , I think it is important to feel connected with the mission and goals of the project (Kuffel, Gina With a few of our QA team mates being away for an extended period of time, the rest of the team came together and was able to assist in executing the workload quickly and efficiently. (Lewis, Megan (NIH/NCI) [C] )

Something that I think we need to improve for next time is... |
- List anything that we could have done better in this sprint (these comments can be anonymous)
- Limited knowledge on BE, I need to understand redis and open search and set up BE locally to get familiar with BE more(Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] )
- I want to understand better how or why environment variables that affect deployment are not tested earlier during integration. (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] )
- From a backend perspective, global search went about as poorly as I could expect. I hope to avoid implementations like that in future sprints. I think I should've done some preliminary research on how OpenSearch works prior to starting. (Miller, Eric (NIH/NCI) [C])

Something I learned about during this sprint is... |
I have gained updated permissions in the NCI Service Now "Native View" that allows me to see an assignee to all ticketsLearning some tricks of fixing corrupt RNA-Seq files or files that were created by merging several bam files and reconstructing them so that they are compatible with downstream tools. (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] ).
- I learned a lot about OpenSearch and how to define an indices for searching. I also became more familiar with the corresponding OpenSearch services in the ICDC backend. (Miller, Eric Had some comparing files using the bash utility "diff". (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])
Actions
- Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] to create at task in order to bundle web fonts with our application.
- Better catalog/documentation of system changes, ie. a DevOps log
- Always reschedule standup meetings
- Be sure to update test cases if and when requirements evolve
- DevOps leads should sign off on new microservice designs
- Create an external service to cache data from external APIs (Performance Caching)
- Mukherjee, Amit (NIH/NCI) [C] to create a DevOps task to implement performance caching and polling/reporting of outages to Slack or email.
