If your user account has the Group Administrator role, and if you have write permission on a particular collection, following command allows you to permanently delete a file in that collection, and associated metadata:
You can delete a data file (or link) and associated metadata, if the following criteria are all true:
- Your user account has the group administrator role.
- You own that data file. For information on the Own permission level, refer to About Permission Levels.
- That data file is less than 90 days old. (This criterion does not apply to links.)
To delete a data file:
Run the following command:

[-f] <file-path>
The following table describes each parameter:
Parameter Description [-f] By default, the system performs a soft deletion. The system retains the file for two years and then permanently deletes it. To perform immediately permanent deletion, include the -f parameter. <file-path>

A path within DME. Specify the data file that you want to delete. The system prompts you to confirm the deletion.
- Type Y and press Enter. The system responds based on your parameters.
For example, the following command deletes a file named testfile10 in the /Example_Archive/downloads collection.
