EVS is transitioning from using Apelon DTS software for terminology services to using the open-source LexBIG software, developed by the Mayo clinic. The DTS vocabularies are available through the deprecated caCORE 3.x api. The LexBIG vocabularies are available through the evsapi 4.x.

The Apelon DTS services are deprecated and in the process of being retired. There will be no new vocabulary versions released under this service. The Metathesaurus will continue to be updated until the new LexBIG-based Metathesaurus browser is released. To remain consistent with our historical practice of running only the previous version of the EVS technology stack in deprecation, the EVS team will be retiring the EVS 3.x caCORE APIs and the EVS 3.x Grid Services at the release of EVS 5.0 (tentatively scheduled for 2nd Quarter 2009). The DTS (Distributed Terminology System) Server and Metaphrase Server will be decommissioned as they are replaced by the LexBIG Terminology Server as the underlying terminology server for EVS. Additionally the NCI Terminology Browser and NCI Metathesaurus Browsers will be decommissioned and replaced with the NCI BioPortal Browser. If you have not done so already we encourage you to begin planning your migration path to utilize a version later than 3.x of the EVS APIs and Grid Service, at the minimum EVS/caCORE 4.1. |
