The Actors here are Cancer researcher and Information technologist. This is a high priority requirement.
1. There is a need for an ontology that will cater to the LIMS developers and users this would facilitate development of a universal terminology, the purpose is to facilitate unambiguous electronic communication.
2. There also is a need to expand unified code for units of measure dictionary to make it all inclusive for different measures used.
Open collaborative platforms like BioPortal, Biomed GT would be a good place to start building such ontology caBIG community needs to develop an ontology for LIMS application
2. caBIG community needs to use collaborative platforms for improving existing terminologies and for cross mapping between various terminology sets.
Business goal: To extend the knowledge content for caBIG community
