Dr. Melissa Haendel is the Director of the Ontology Development Group within the Oregon Health & Science University Library and the Department of Medical Informatics and Epidemiology and principle investigator of the Monarch Initiative. Dr. Haendel earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a B.A. in Chemisty Chemistry from Reed College. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon.
