SYNOPSIS:

The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) is a national clinical cooperative group that has been funded by the National Cancer Institute since 1968. Its aim is to improve survival and quality of life for patients diagnosed with cancer. The scope of RTOG encompasses all major cancer disease sites. Conducting research in the cooperative group setting requires a set of minimum standards and consistency; this is particularly relevant in the realm of technological assessment and innovation. In the re-organization of the cooperative groups as well as in the quality-assurance support groups, there are unique challenges regarding data acquisition and database infrastructure, as well as access to data.
