Main Conference 20-21 June 201

Workshops 19 and 22 June 2012

Website: TKE

Location: Madrid, Spain

TKE2012 will feature posters and hold a poster session. Posters are an
opportunity for presenting late-breaking results, ongoing research, and
speculative or embryonic work in progress. Posters are intended for
authors and participants to engage in discussions about their work and
obtain feedback from their peers in an informal setting.

Authors should send a two-page paper (PDF, Springer LNCS style) for
evaluation to The paper must
clearly demonstrate relevance to the topics of interest of TKE 2012.
Submissions will be evaluated for acceptability by the organizing
committee. Decisions about acceptance will be based on relevance to TKE,
originality, significance and clarity. Papers that exceed the given page
length or do not follow the LNCS guidelines will be rejected without a

Accepted poster papers will be allocated 2 pages in the conference
proceedings. In addition to the 2-page submission, accepted poster
authors will be asked to generate a poster and possible demonstration to

session at the conference.

Conference Aim and Topics

TKE 2012 will be the 10th edition of this conference that started out under the auspices of Infoterm in 1987, and since 1990 has been supported by Infoterm and TermNet. In the course of the years TKE has developed towards wider fields in knowledge transfer for special language communication in a multilingual global society.  In this context, interdisciplinary research emphasizing the intersection of different disciplines dealing with terminological aspects and knowledge engineering resources online is welcome.
This conference will mainly focus on those theoretical, methodological and practical aspects that show the symbiosis of terminology and knowledge engineering by highlighting the recent advances in these related fields. We invite papers on all aspects of the following topics:

I. Terminology and knowledge engineering

  • Lexicons, thesauri and ontologies as semantic resources
  • Lexicons and ontologies as means for knowledge transfer
  • Classification systems and thesauri
  • Multimodal information management in terminology
  • Metadata  in terminological and knowledge resources
  • Ontology localization
  • Multilingual terminology extraction
  • Terminology alignment in parallel corpora and other lexical resources
  • Representation of terms and conceptual relations in knowledge-based applications
  • Comparative studies of terminological resources and/or ontological resources from different languages, domains and approaches
  • Interoperability and reusability in knowledge-based tools and applications

II. Terminology policies, standards and terminological tools

  • Terminology in Languages for Specialized Purposes (LSPs)
  • Terminology and lexicography teaching and learning
  • Terminology for language planning
  • Terminological resources in the 21st century
  • Harmonization of format and standards in terminological resources
  • Multilinguality and multimodality in terminological resources
  • Management of language resources
  • Models and metamodels in annotating semantic resources
  • Reusing, standardizing and merging terminological or ontological resources

III. Terminology applications

  • Integrating terminological resources  across domains and languages
  • Applying terminological resources for natural language processing
  • Developing terminological tools for machine translation
  • Terminology in financial and business settings
  • Terminology in e-government and sector standardization
