  1. Download the concept import template (Start with a fresh template for each import.) 

  2. When opening your copy of the template, select Enable Macros.
  3. In your copy of the template, add Batch User, Batch Name, and Seq ID columns. 

  4. Populate your file with information about the concepts that you want to import. The following table provides instructions for each column in your copy of the concept import template:

    Column NameInstructions
    Batch UserEnter a batch user name in each row. You can provide any text in this column. The system does not validate this column. 
    Batch NameEnter a batch name in each row. The combination of Batch User and Batch Name must be unique.
    Seq IDSpecify a unique sequence ID in each row.

    ContextEach cell in this column has a drop-down list of all valid Contexts. Select a value from that list. 

    As you populate your file, keep in mind the following points:

    • You may add additional columns to your file for taking/keeping notes after the last template column, but the column names must be unique.

    • You can use your Delete key to clear the contents of one or more individual cells, but do not delete entire rows or columns. 

  5. Use the Microsoft Excel "Save As" feature to save your copy of the template as CSV. 

  6. Import the file into OneData:

    1. Log in as described in Logging In.
    2. From the Manage menu, select Manage Data. The Manage Data page appears. Select Concept (for import). The Concept (for import) page appears. (For instructions on adding this page to your favorites, refer to Managing Your Favorites.)
    3. From the Import menu, select Data Object Import. 

    4. Select the Concept Import row and click Import (between Add New Mapping and Go To Data Manager). 

    5. Under Source Information, in the Import from File row, click Choose File. Navigate to and select your CSV file from your desktop. 

    6. Click Import at the bottom of the page. The system displays a message with the status of your import.

    The "S50_Concepts_Template-Test20231121.csv" file from DSRMWS-2973 has only the following column headings:

    PREFERRED_NAME,LONG_NAME,PREFERRED_DEFINITION,EVS_SOURCE,ORIGIN,SOURCE_DEFINITION,Context

    Does the user need to add the Batch User, Batch Name, & Seq ID columns manually?

    Does OneData have a report to generate an Excel spreadsheet of descriptions for columns in Concept (for import)?

    The "S54_Concepts_Template-Test20240408.xlsm" file from DSRMWS-2973 has a macro.

    • At what point in the above process should the user run that macro? 
    • What does it do?

    Also, this S54 file doesn't have the expected drop-down list in each cell of the Context column.
