Retrospective

Liked (smile)

  • List anything that went well in this sprint including shout out to others that went out of their way to help (add your name after your comment)

  • 2 new studies have been approved by DGAB (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • JBrowse is now working in Bento-QA and will be a great feature for ICDC (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • New Biobank facet filters (Udosen, Toyo (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • Excited to see most voted on designs for new landing page and sent to DEV to begin build (Stogsdill, Hannah (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • The level of collaboration across activities relating to the implementation of the data model viewer - from aligning development activities with the related data model updates, and the associated changes to the data loader - has been excellent. There's been a lot going on around the viewer, and it feels like we've all been aware of what others are doing (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])

Lacked (sad)

  • List anything that we could have done better in this sprint (add your name after your comment)

  • Access permission on ICDC buckets are incorrect and are preventing us from getting the objects indexed (Unknown User (114973298126195513658))
  • Data Processing for Embargoed data could be better. (Mukherjee, Amit (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Would very much have liked to see the automated testing of the MGT01 and COTC022 studies completed by sprint's end. By no means a blocker, but something I'd like to see us stay out in front of (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • we can edit the workflow for test tickets in Jira to test passed/test failed instead of "fixed" workflow as these are meant for Testing(Unknown User (podagatlapalll2)

Learned(lightbulb)

  • List anything you learned about in this sprint (add your name after your comment)
  • All about EC2 instances and S3 buckets and how to move objects between them programmatically (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Wiring up EC2 instances with SBG CGC (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • Got reacquainted with the data-loader and model converter (Udosen, Toyo (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • Session handling (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Bucket Permissions should be allowed for file processing at all times and this should be communicated clearly to Cloud One. Mukherjee, Amit (NIH/NCI) [C]
  • Learned how to reset previously up-to-date local copies of the data model master branch in my GitHub local, such that upstream changes to things like GitHub actions, used to validate model changes themselves, can be brought into a local branch while it's actively being worked on (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Learned about the Stash function (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])

  1. (Liked) - All positive feedback from my end. When I've come across any questions or concerns during testing, I communicate those to which I always receive prompt answers and feedback. The communication amongst the team (QA in particular for me) is very strong. (Learned) - I also appreciate the elaborate test cases written by Lakshmi. Not only does the detail allow testing to be executed smoothly, but it has taught me how to write better test cases in the future.
