Retrospective

Liked (smile)

  • List anything that went well in this sprint including shout out to others that went out of their way to help (add your name after your comment)
  • We are getting pretty good setting up code to read from environment variables and repos to have branches that mimic our tiers so that we can manage web content more efficiently. Thanks to Ying, Ming (NIH/NCI) [C] for coming up with this approach and the engineering team for making it come to life. (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • The PRECINCT presentation was very well received (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • New designs and implementation for Data Model Navigator (DMN) are coming alive. They are looking pretty good. (Sheth, Karan (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • The improved and New Footer component is showing version numbers in a much-improved way than the previous component & saving a lot screen space. (Sheth, Karan (NIH/NCI) [C]
  • Really solid progress on the new bundled downloads (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C]'s quick reaction to/solution for the mark down formatting not being propagated into the corresponding PDF export (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • The gradual transition into the new designs around the Data Model Navigator (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Efficient and timely communication to streamline DEV process and maintain optimal use of effort for priorities (e.g. simplifying hover criteria for DMN zoom/reset buttons) (Stogsdill, Hannah (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • We have a new "Interoperation" microservice now! (Ying, Ming (NIH/NCI) [C] )
  • Implementing New design (new challenges) for DMN (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C]

Disliked/Lacked/Needs Improvement (sad)

  • List anything that we could have done better in this sprint (add your name after your comment)
  • We could have done an analysis of the code a little bit early to match the requirements of the new node design which could have provided us with a few clear answers. But Thanks to Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] we have got useful information to plan for the next step. (Sheth, Karan (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Not liking scrum being dropped on two consecutive Wednesdays, although today's cancellation is a bit of special case with an early release.  As one of our primary touchpoints, in my opinion, scrum should be scrum, not rolled into other meetings (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C]

Learned(lightbulb)

  • List anything you learned about in this sprint (add your name after your comment)
  • Met with others to gain consensus on common terminology across the Bento tech stack. I feel this will help all projects so that we are not developing in a silo and so that we can build cohesive features, services, and products. (Kuffel, Gina (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Learned some basic GitHub Flavored mark down with which to apply formatting to the Data Model Navigator's ReadMe text (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C]) Thanks to Sheth, Karan (NIH/NCI) [C] for his help with Visual Studio
  • Learned that some of the formatting which I thought might be overpowering is surprisingly subtle depending upon the font being used within the UI (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Learned that the ReadMe modal itself could use a little styling to enhance the readability of what is quite a lengthy text, at least for the DMN ReadMe (Musk, Philip (NIH/NCI) [C])
  • Learned feature of new library HTML2PDF, to create pdf from marked down file and html elements. (Rana, Ambar (NIH/NCI) [C] )

Actions

  • Better catalog/documentation of system changes, ie. a DevOps log
  • Reschedule standup meetings
