About CTRP

NCI's new Clinical Trials Reporting Program (CTRP) fulfills a recommendation made by the NCI Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG) to the National Cancer Advisory Board. The purpose of the program is to establish a comprehensive database containing regularly updated information on on all NCI-funded clinical trials. Grantees will enter specific information about each clinical trial into the database. NCI will internally transfer to CTRP information on CTEP, CCR and DCP trials, eliminating the need for awardees to enter information on these trials. NCI will use this information to coordinate research efforts to optimize our nation's investment in cancer research. NCI initiated a phased launch of CTRP, which started January 2009 with a focus on registering interventional trials only. The registration of observational, ancillary and correlative studies will begin in 2010.

At present, CTRP is comprised of the following systems and modules:

*NCI Clinical Trials Reporting Site: A web site for registering clinical trials.
*NCI Protocol Abstraction Portal: A web-based application for creating detailed protocol abstractions.
*NCI Shared Person/Organization Curation Portal: A web-based application for curating person, organization, and correlation data.
*The COPPA Services: COPPA is an initial set of core enterprise services (Persons, Organizations, Protocol Abstraction, and Correlations) that are central to the operations of all CTMS applications. The COPPA services are being built and deployed now in support of the CTRP Program in the context of a regulatory requirement for registration of all NCI protocols. These four core COPPA services will soon be deployed throughout caBIG. In addition, it is anticipated that additional enterprise services (e.g., credentialing, agents, accruals, participant registration, patient scheduling, and adverse event reporting services) will be developed in future phases

    Project Planning and Management

We engage in Agile project development, where we focus on time-boxed iterations that result in a deployable, testable application at the end of each iteration. As part of the iterative development, we actively engage with stakeholders on a regular basis.

The project management plan, communications plan, risk management plan, and project schedule are available in the CTRP source control repository.
