Copying an Existing Sample

To update a sample, perform a search, and click the Edit link in the first column of the the 3 - Managing Samples in caNanoLab 2.1 DRAFT page. The Update Sample page opens. This page also opens when you, as a curator, choose to edit a sample while you are reviewing data prior to public release. The page that displays is the same Sample page on which the sample was submitted. On this page, only after login and with appropriate permissions, you can edit the sample information.

Details are described in the following table. An asterisk indicates a required field. Click Update when you are done editing the sample. Click Update at the bottom of the page when you are done. To disregard the changes, click Reset.

General Information Characterization FieldsDefinition

Sample Name*

The name assigned to the sample.

Point of Contact*

The site that is source of the sample. Click View Details for more information. Click Edit to edit current information. Click Add to add another point of contact.

Keywords

Keyword(s) the submitter selected to associate with the selected sample.

Access to the Sample

The group(s) which have access to the selected sample. Click Add to add access Information for the sample in the expanded section of the page.

Data Availability Metrics

Click Generate to create the Data Availability Metrics table, as described in .
Note: Once this information has been generated, the Generate button is unavailable. You can review the information by clicking the Edit link.

  1. If you work from the Publications menu option, you can associate multiple samples with a publication. See  Publications Overview for more information
  2. If you add documents from within an open sample, you can use the copy feature to associate the document with other samples. See Submitting a Publication for more information.

Changing Group Access to the Publication

To change the group access to the Publication:

  1. Perform a search, click the Edit link corresponding to a publication listed in Publication Search Results, and the Update Publication page opens.
  2. Scroll down to the Access to the Publication field, and click Add.
    The Access Information dialog box opens.
  3. For Access By, you will specify the group or user to which you are specifying access:
    • Collaboration Group: If you click this option, Collaboration Group appears below the selection. You can type in a group name and click Search or select a group from the drop down to the right.
    • User: If you click this option, User Login Name appears below the selection. You can type in a login name and click Search or select a login from the drop down to the right.
    • Public: If you click this option, Public appears in the Collaboration Group box and cannot be edited.
  4. For Access to This Publication, specify whether the selected group or user can read, update, and delete the publication or read (only).
  5. Click Cancel to remove the entries or click Save to add the access information.
    The Update Publication page appears with the group or user added to the Access to the Publication panel.

Deleting a Sample
