If the following criteria are all true, you can upload one or more files from an AWS S3 bucket to a dataset in MoDaC: 

  • You have a user account with upload

  • permission. 
  • You are member of a group that has metadata permission on that dataset (or you created that dataset). 
  • You have

  • read access to an AWS S3 bucket

When you upload data, you become the owner of that data. (Ownership cannot be changed.), you can upload one or more files from it. 

  1. Log in, as described in Logging In
  2. Make sure your window is wide enough to display the Uploads option in the header.
  3. Click Uploads. The upload page appears. 
  4. Navigate to the dataset:
    1. Select an existing program or add a new one. 
    2. Select an existing study or add a new one. 
    3. Select an existing dataset or add a new one.

    For instructions, refer to Adding a Collection.

  5. Click Add Data. Select Transfer from S3
  6. Specify the following information: 
    • The name of the source S3 bucket.
    • The path to and the name of the folder in the source bucket. 
    • The AWS access key.
    • The AWS secret access key.
    • The region.
  7. Click Register. The system transfers the data based on your selections. 
  8. When the system displays the task ID, consider copying that ID and viewing the status of the upload. For instructions, refer to Viewing Download or Upload Status
