  • You can add a program. 
  • If you are member of a group that has permission to edit an existing program (or if you created a program), you can add a study to that program. 
  • If you are member of a group that has permission to edit an existing study (or if you created a study), you can add a an asset to that study. 

When you create a collection, you become the owner of that collection. (Ownership cannot be changed.)

  1. Log in, as described in Logging In

  2. Click Upload in the header. The upload page appears. 

  3. Navigate to the collection in which you want to create a

    new

    collection.

    In the next field, click a registration option:

    • To add a program: Click Register Program
    • To add a study: Click Select Program. Select an existing program from the
    Register New option. (For example, to add a new asset, select
    • program list. Click Register Study
    • To add an asset: Click Select Program. Select an existing program from the program list

    • . Click Register Asset. Click Register Empty Asset. The Select Asset Type dialog box appears. Select an asset type. Click Select.

    • Program. Select an existing program from the program list. Click Select Study. Select an existing study from the study list. Click Select Asset. Select an existing asset from the asset list. Click Register Asset Subcollection. 

    A registration page appears. 

  4. Specify the information for the new collection:

    • At the asset level or higher: In the Permissions field,  select select one or more groups from the list. (If the Permissions field is empty, only you, as the person who created the collection, can edit the metadata, add files, or add subcollections.)
    • To add a metadata attribute, click the Add Metadata option (such as Add Asset Metadata). A blank attribute row appears. Specify a unique attribute name. (Repeat for additional attributes. To delete an attribute, click the X.)
    • At the asset level or higher: If the collection is public and you do not want the public to have access to the data, clear the Public checkbox and select one or more groups from the list. 
    • Specify a value for each required metadata attribute. (Once you register the collection, the identifier is permanent.) If an attribute value begins with http or https, MoDaC displays it as a hyperlink in read-only fields.
  5. When you have finished specifying information for the new collection, click the Register button (such as Register Asset). A message appears, confirming the collection creation. 

To return to the upload page, click Back to Upload Tab.
