Download the DEC import update template. (Start with a fresh template for each import.)
Populate your copy of the template with information about the DECs that you want to import or update. The following table provides instructions for each column in your copy of the template:
Column Name Instructions Do Not Use Leave empty. Batch User Enter a batch user name in each row. Required for all imports and updates. You can provide any text in this column. The system does not validate this column. Batch Name Enter a batch name in each row. Required for all imports and updates. The combination of Batch User and Batch Name must be unique. Seq ID Specify a unique sequence ID in each row. Required for all imports and updates. Context Name Each cell in this column has a drop-down list of all valid Contexts. Select a value from that list. . Required for all DEC imports and updates. DEC ID (Update Only) TBD. Required for all DEC updates. DEC Version (Update Only) TBD. Required for all DEC updates. Optional Specified DEC Long Name TBD Optional Specified DEC Short Name TBD OC Concepts Specify object class concepts. Enter the primary concept last. Required for all DEC imports and updates. Prop Concepts Specify property concepts. Enter the primary concept last. Required for all DEC imports and updates. DEC CD Name Each cell in this column has a drop-down list of all Standard Conceptual Domain Names. Select a value from that list. The system automatically populates the CD Public ID in the next column. Required for all DEC imports. CD Public ID When you select a DEC CD Name in the previous column, the system automatically populates the CD Public ID in this column. Required for all DEC imports. Optional DEC Origin TBD Comments TBD As you populate your file, keep in mind the following points:
- To create new DECs, complete the columns for:
- Batch User
- Batch Name
- Seq ID
- Context Name
- Object Class Concepts
- Property Concepts
- DEC Conceptual Domain ID
- To update existing DECs, complete the columns for:
- Context Name
- DEC ID
- DEC Version
- Object Class Concepts
- Property Concepts
- You may add additional columns to your file for taking/keeping notes after the last template column, but the column names must be unique.
- You can use your Delete key to clear the contents of one or more individual cells, but do not delete entire rows or columns.
- To create new DECs, complete the columns for:
- Use the Microsoft Excel "Save As" feature to save your copy of the template as CSV.
- Import the file into OneData:
- Log in as described in Logging In.
- From the Manage menu, select Manage Data. The Manage Data page appears. Select DEC Import - Update. The DEC Import - Update page appears. (For instructions on adding this page to your favorites, refer to Managing Favorites.)
- From the Import menu, select Data Object Import.
Select the DEC Import v1 row and click Import (between Add New Mapping and Go To Data Manager).
Under Source Information, in the Import from File row, click Choose File. Navigate to and select your CSV file from your desktop.
Click Import at the bottom of the page. The system displays a message with the status of your import.
Generate a list of DECs from your file:
Click Go To Data Manager. The DEC Import - Update page reappears.
Specify search criteria, such as all or part of your Batch Name. The format for the Date Last Modified field is MM/DD/YY (such as 03/05/22).
Click Apply Filter. Search results appear. The system displays one row per DEC.
- To edit values:
- Click the edit icon in the row you want to edit. A detail page appears for the selected item.
- Click DEC Import - Update Command > Validate DEC. Review the Generated DEC name and revise the Concept information as needed. If you make any changes, click click Save and click Validate DEC again.
- When you have entered the correct OC and Property Concepts and the Generated Name appears as expected, click Create validation passes, click DEC Import - Update Command > Create DEC or Update DEC. The system displays the new or updated DEC ID.
- To view the next DEC from your imported file, click the Go to the next page icon (the triangle icon after Rows x of xxx).
