When a user uploads a file, that user can specify which groups can modify the metadata for that file. If you belong to one of those groups, you can modify the metadata for that file. 

  1. Log in, as described in Logging In
  2. Perform a search, as described in Finding Data.
  3. In the search results, click the link for the data set asset of interest. The Data Set The Asset Details page appears. 
  4. If the asset has subfolders, navigate to the file of interest. (Click each folder to open it.)
  5. In the row of the file for which you want to edit metadata, click  click the edit icon. The User Metadata page appears with the filename.
  6. Specify the information for the collectionfile:
    • To add a metadata attribute, click the click Add Metadata option. A blank attribute row appears. Specify a unique attribute name. (Repeat for additional attributes.)
    • To delete a new attribute, or to clear the value field for an existing optional attribute, click the X.
    • Specify a value for each required metadata attribute. Keep in mind the following points:
      • The character limit for each metadata value is 2700.
      • If an attribute
    Click Update
      • value begins with http or https, MoDaC displays it as a hyperlink in read-only fields.
  7. Click Update. A message appears, confirming the update. 

To return to the Asset Details page, click Back to Asset Details. To view the metadata (one hour after the update), on the Asset Details page, click the metadata icon next to the filename.
