The Cancer Imaging Program (CIP) worked directly with Henry Ford and UCSF primary investigators to obtain and load images relating to TCGA case studies into the National Cancer Institute Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (NCI CBIIT) installation of the National Biomedical Imaging Archive (NBIA).  De-identification of the images from both sites followed the procedures outlined in DICOM Working Group 18's Supplement 142 document, which was implemented via the Clinical Trials Processor (CTP) software used for submitting data into NBIA.the cooperation of several of the TCGA tissue-contributing institutions has archived a large portion of the radiological images of the genetically-analyzed cases. Clinical, genetic, and pathological data resides in the TCGA data portal while the radiological data is stored within TCIA. The data utilizes the same TCGA patient identifiers in both repositories, allowing researchers to explore the correlations between tissue genotype and radiological phenotype.
