When you click the My Workspace option on the caNanoLab menu bar, the My Workspace page appears. As a logged in user, any samples, protocols, and publications that you submitted appear on the page.

You can hide and re-load items into My Workspace by checking the My Samples, My Protocols, and My Publications boxes at the top of the page. From the listed items

If displayed, you can view (where applicable), edit, delete, and share items by changing the accessof a listed sample, protocol, or publication.

Any green Green rows in My Workspace indicate that someone has shared the item with you. Any rows Rows without color are items that you bookmarked and you can share with another user or group.

Some protocols listed may only not have an Edit a View link in the Actions column. These protocols do not have a PDF available of the protocol, because the protocol file is not available for viewing.

Name or Title

The name of the Samplesample, Protocolprotocol, or Publication publication defined for the item in caNanoLab.

Submission Status

Includes:

  • Pending indicates that the item was submitted for curator review.
  • Approved indicates that the item was approved by the curator and made publicly available.
  • In Draft indicates that the item was submitted by the owner but not yet reviewed by the curator.  
  • Retracted indicates that the item was deleted or the access changed so that the item is no longer publicly available.

Created Date

The date on which the item was initially submitted in caNanoLab.

Access

Indicates the access defined for the current sample, protocol, or publication.

This If the column may indicate the following and the row will have no colorcontains the following information, Owner, Shared with: username, username, it is an item that you submitted as Owner:

  • Owner is the person who submitted the itemyour user name.
  • Shared with indicates the person(s) is the user with which the owner you shared the item.

This column may also indicate If the column contains the following information, Shared by: which indicates username, it is an item that another user has shared the item with you. These item rows appear , and the row appears in green.

  • Shared by: and your user name.

Managing Samples in My Workspace

Viewing

To display a sample from My Workspace:

Click the My Samples check box at the top of the page, find the Sample sample to review, and click View in the Action column.
The Sample page opens .with the following information:

  • Sample Name
  • Created Date
  • Key Words:
  • Point of Contact:
  • Primary Contact:
  • Contact Person
  • Organization
  • Role

To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back (  ) button, not the Browser button.

Updating

To update a sample from My Workspace:

  1. Click the My Samples box at the top of the page, find the sample to update, and click Edit in the Action column of the sample row that you want to update.
    The Sample Update page opens. For more information about the Sample Update page, see Updating a Sample.
  2. To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back (  ) button, not the Browser button.
Deleting

To remove a sample from the database:

  1. Check the My Samples box at the top of the page, find the sample to delete, and click Delete in the Action column of the sample row.
    The message Are you sure you want delete the sample[item]? appears.
  2. Click Cancel or click OK to remove the sample.
    The My Workspace page displays, and the deleted sample is no longer listed.

To share a sample from My Workspace, click Edit and the Update page opens.

To display a protocol from My Workspace:

Not all protocols have PDF files associated with them, so the View link may not be available for every protocol.

  1. Check the My Protocols box at the top of My Workspaceof the page, find the protocol to review, and click View in the Action column.

  2. You are prompted to open or save the file on your computer.

Updating

To update a protocol from My Workspace:

  1. Click the My Protocols box at the top of the page, find the Protocol to update, and click Edit in the Action column of the protocol row that you want to update.
    The Protocol Update page opens. For more information about the Protocol Update page, see Updating a Protocol.
  2. To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back (  ) button, not the Browser button.

Deleting

 

To remove a protocol from the database:

  1. Check the My Protocol box at the top of the page, find the sample to delete, and click Delete in the Action column of the protocol row.
    The message Are you sure you want to delete to protocol[item]? appears.
  2. Click Cancel or click OK to remove the protocol.
    The My Workspace page displays and the deleted protocol is no longer listed.

Managing Publications in My Workspace

Not all publications have a PubMed ID associated with them, so the View link may not be available for every publication.

To display a publication from My Workspace:

Click the My Protocols box at the top of the page, find the publication to review, and click View in the Action column.

The Publication information shows on the PubMed.gov web site.

Updating

To update a publication from My Workspace:

  1. Click the My Publications box at the top of the page, find the publication,and click Edit in the row of the publication that you want to update, delete, reset, or submit.
    The Publication Update page opens. For more information about the Publication Update page, see Updating a Publication.
  2. To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back (  ) button, not the Browser button.
