What You Options You See and Why
When you use caNanoLab, you are assigned to a certain user group. This user group has access to certain menu options. Beyond menu option access, any user can see all public protocols, samples, and publications, but only update items to which they are associated. For more information, see the following sections about user groups and visibility.
User Groups and Menu Option Access
When caNanoLab is installed, the property application Owner is set during the build. Four user groups are pre-defined during application startup. Visibility of features and functions to the user can differ, based on the user group to which the user is assigned.

Each user group and the visible menu options are described in the following table

Protocol, Sample, and Publication Visibility
When a data curator creates and/or uploads a protocol, sample, or publication to the caNanoLab database, the curator indicates who has Access To the item. The curator can indicate that you (your login ID) or a collaboration group (group name) that you are in have Access To the object. With access, you could view and possibly edit the item in the database. The My Workspace page is available so that curators have quick access to all the items they have submitted.
Can you only share with another curator? It just gives them the ability to make changes and submit, and change access?
