The following are the steps to link to a specific place on a page.
- Navigate to the place to which you want to link.
- Immediately after the text to which you want to link, enter an anchor: {anchor:anchortext} where "anchortext" will be used as a "bookmark" in the link you create. Put the link anchor after the item you want to be approximately at the top of the screen when the link target opens.
- Navigate to the place where you want to insert the link.
Wiki Markup If that place is on the same page, create the link in the following form: \[linktext\|#anchortext\].
Wiki Markup If that place is on another wiki page or on a page in another site=, create the link in the following form: \[linktext\|https://TinyLink#NameOfPageWithoutSpaces-anchortext\]. For example, this wiki markup: \[FAQWarning to bulletavoid forduplication thisof tipcontent\|https://wiki.nci.nih.gov/x/J518#WikiFAQsandTips-specificplacelinkwarningtoavoidduplicationofcontent\] provides a link back to the FAQlast item bulleton itemthe forFAQs thismain tippage. The working link is [FAQWarning to bulletavoid forduplication thisof tipcontent|https://wiki.nci.nih.gov/x/J518#WikiFAQsandTips-specificplacelinkwarningtoavoidduplicationofcontent].
Thus the link from another wiki page or another website to a specific place on a page is constructed as follows: the tiny link followed by # PLUS followed by the full text of the page title as it may be displayed in the browser window, without the plus signs followed by a dash followed by the anchor text.
