    • Pie charts that show fields from the investigations. While you can customize which fields appear in the pie charts, the default view includes three pie charts that combine statistics from the following investigation fields for all eight PSON data sets: Study Protocol Name, Study Assay Measurement Type, and Study Assay Technology Type. You click pie slices to narrow down how much data is displayed in the pie charts. The investigation list refreshes each time you click a pie slice. You can return to the default pie charts anytime by clicking either Reset All or selecting Investigations > Browse.

For example, in the following screenshot, only one slice of the Study Protocol Name pie chart has been selected: plate cells. The number 4 next to the label plate cells means that four investigations have the Study Protocol Name of plate cells. Those four have a null value for Study Assay Technology Type, which is the second pie chart, and all use the same Study Assay Measurement Type of imaging assay.

    • A list of investigation details below the pie charts. These investigation details match the fields you have selected in the pie charts; for example, in the screenshot above, each investigation includes the same investigation fields as the pie chart--Study Protocol Name, Study Assay Measurement Type, and Study Assay Technology Type–plus Study Title and Description. The default list shows every investigation available in the portal, but when you add or remove fields from the pie charts, the number of investigations may change. You can return to the default (full) list at anytime by selecting Investigations > Browse.

To continue with the example of the plate cells selection, the following screenshot shows how that selection in the pie chart impacts the investigation list. The list includes only those four investigations that have a Study Protocol Name of plate cells. The list also shows additional data about each investigation, such as the other keywords used in the Study Protocol Name field.
