User Account Overview

When you click Admin, Manage User Accounts When you click the Admin menu, the Manage User Accounts page appears with the following options.

  • Create a New User

  • Search Existing Users

You can also Edit a user account. The following sections provide details on these options.

Creating a New User Account

 

To create a new user account

  1. Click Admin.

  2. Click Create New User.

  3. From Create User, fill in the user contact information. The Username and First and Last Name are required.
  4. Specify the user role(s) to assign to the user, as described in caNanoLab User Roles

    1. Researcher

    2. Curator

    3. Admin

  5. Click Submit. A success message appears in red at the top of the

  6. On the Manage Curation page, click Review Data Pending Release to Public.
    The Data Pending Review page that opens displays the list of data to be reviewed.
  7. Click the Edit link to open a data detail page where you can update a sample.
    After reviewing the submitted data, you can assign the data to be Public.
  8. Click Add associated with the Access and the Access Information panel opens.

  9. In the Access Information panel, select the Public radio button and click Save.

  10. The item is now publicly-accessible from the caNanoLab public home

    page.

Searching for Existing Users

To generate or remove data availability for multiple samples in a batch

The owner of a sample can always generate data availability metrics for the individual sample.

 

search for an existing user

  1. Click Admin.

  2. Click Search Existing Users.

  3. From Search Users, in the Search Name box, enter all or part of the user's Username, First, and/or Last NameOn the Manage Curation page, click Manage Batch Data Availability.
    The Manage Batch Data Availability page opens.
    The following sample data availability batch options are available.

    This batch process may take some time, but it runs in the background, so you can perform other options in caNanoLab. 

    OptionDescriptionGenerate data availability for all samples  Generates data availability metrics for all samples, including those where metrics were generated previously.Regenerate data availability of sample with existing availability  

    Generates data availability metrics only for samples where metrics were generated previously. 

    Delete data availability for all samples

    Removes all the current data availability metrics for all samples.

  4. Click Submit, and a message displays indicating that the process may take some time.

    The batch generation runs in the background, so you can leave this page and continue using caNanoLab.

  1. Leaving User Search Empty

     If you do not add any parameters in the User Search box, all users are returned.

    On the same page, the system lists user search results with each user's username and contact information.

Editing a User Account

To edit a user's account information

  1. Search for the user.

  2. From the search results, click Edit in the Actions column.

  3. On Update User, you cannot edit the Username, but you can update the remaining user information. 

  4. When you are done, click Submit. A success message appears in red at the top of the page.
