The Lexical Grid
Currently, there are many terminologies and ontological resources available (ICD-9, NCI Thesaurus, SNOMED-CT). However, many of these resources involve incompatible formats, tooling, and programming interfaces. This can make it difficult to use these resources to their full potential. The Lexical Grid (LexGrid) project is an initiative of the Mayo Clinic Division of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) designed to bridge this gap using common tools, data formats, and read/update mechanisms.
