The caBIG® Annotation and Image Markup (AIM) project defines an information model and software tools to capture and create image annotations and markups using well-defined common data elements and controlled terminologies. The current release of the AIM version 3.0 model has an AIM C++ library and a conversion tool between AIM DICOM SR and AIM XML format. The source code for the conversion tool is also included as an example of how to use the library to create an application. The library is a reusable component that implements the AIM 3.0 information model. AIM on ClearCanvas Workstation uses the AIM toolkit to create an imaging workstation that produces AIM DICOM SR objects and XML documents. The 3.0.4 workstation provides additional features.

The 3.0.4 workstation is an AIM 3.0 implementation. It allows workstation users to create and view AIM instances based on the AIM 3.0 information model. The workstation can import AIM templates, a collection of questions and possible answers to each question, to guide users of the workstation to enter in a structured manner. More information is in the AIM Template Builder User's Guide.
