Welcome to the CTRP Development Team Wiki site. The purpose of this site is to provide up-to-date information on the development of the applications, tools, and services supporting the CTRP program.
About CTRP
NCI's new Clinical Trials Reporting Program (CTRP) fulfills a recommendation made by the NCI Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG) to the National Cancer Advisory Board. The purpose of the program is to establish a comprehensive database containing regularly updated information on all NCI-funded clinical trials. Grantees will enter specific information about each clinical trial into the database. NCI will internally transfer to CTRP information on CTEP, CCR and DCP trials, eliminating the need for awardees to enter information on these trials. NCI will use this information to coordinate research efforts to optimize our nation's investment in cancer research. NCI initiated a phased launch of CTRP, which started January 2009 with a focus on registering interventional trials only. The registration of observational, ancillary and correlative studies will begin in 2010.
For information about CTRP, please visit the CTRP Website.
About the CTRP Applications and Services
At present, CTRP is comprised of the following systems and modules:
- NCI Clinical Trials Registration Site:
The CTRP Registration Site provides researchers with access to cancer clinical trials. It enables users to search for clinical trials submitted by members of the cancer research community and to view details of existing trials. Additionally, users who create an account with the CTRP can submit new clinical trial protocol details and amend those currently registered and verified in the CTRP. The CTRP Registration Site enables users to register, amend, and update trials one-at- a-time, or in batches consisting of multiple trials. Currently you can register proprietary and non-proprietary interventional trials. Future releases of this product will enable you to register observational trials as well.
- NCI Clinical Trials Viewer: A web-based tool for viewing reports.
- NCI Clinical Trials Accrual Site: A web-based application for reporting accrual information for a trial with NCI's Clinical Trials Reporting Program.
- NCI Protocol Abstraction Portal: A web-based application for creating detailed protocol abstractions.
- NCI Shared Person/Organization Curation Portal: A web-based application for curating person, organization, and correlation data.
- The COPPA Services: COPPA is an initial set of core enterprise services (Persons, Organizations, Protocol Abstraction, and Correlations) that are central to the operations of all CTMS applications. For more information about COPPA, see the COPPA wiki .
To find out more about these applications and services, you can (1) download and read the Users Guides or (2) visit our DEMONSTRATION tier where we have demo versions of each application and service available for use and testing.

Project Planning and Management
We engage in Agile project development, where we focus on time-boxed iterations that result in a deployable, testable application at the end of each iteration. As part of the iterative development, we actively engage with stakeholders on a regular basis.
The project management plan, communications plan, risk management plan, and project schedule are available in the CTRP source control repository. To view or download a copy of any of these documents, please go to the following location: project management
Deployment Information
As part of the iterative development process, we are committed to making our latest implementation artifacts available for external consumers. We maintain many deployment tiers with various versions of the working software. You can always see what version of the software is deployed where.
Requirements and Designs
The requirement and software specification documents are available here: requirements
Documentation about the NCI Commons software libraries used by the CTRP applications is available on the 5AM Wiki.
