You can delete a data file (or link) and associated metadata, if the following criteria are all true:

  • Your user account has the group administrator role.
  • You created that data file.
  • That data file is less than 90 days old. (This criterion does not apply to links.)

To delete a data file:

  1. Run the following command:

    dm_delete_datafile [-f] <file-path>

    The following table describes each parameter:

    ParameterDescription
    [-f]By default, the system performs a soft deletion. The system retains the file for two years and then permanently deletes it. To perform immediately permanent deletion, include the -f parameter.
    <file-path>
    A path within DME. Specify the data file that you want to delete.

    The system prompts you to confirm the deletion.

  2. Type Y and press Enter. The system responds based on your parameters.

For example, the following command deletes a file named testfile10 in the  /Example_Archive/downloads collection.

dm_delete_datafile /Example_Archive/downloads/testfile10
