If you have a MoDaC user account and you have write access to a Globus endpoint, you can download one or more files to that endpoint. For prerequisites when using Globus with MoDaC, refer to Preparing to Use Globus

To download data from MoDaC to a Globus endpoint:

  1. Navigate to the Download page, as described in Downloading to Other Locations. The Download page appears, listing the selected file or files. (To deselect one file, click the checkbox in that row.)
  2. Select Globus
  3. Specify the following information:
    • To select information from Globus:
      1. Click the Obtain from Globus (Optional) link. A Globus page appears.
      2. In Globus, select the shared endpoint (collection). Navigate to and double-click the folder in which you want to transfer the data. Make sure the Collection and Path fields reflect your selections. Click Submit. The MoDaC download page reappears.
    • To enter the Globus information manually:
      • Specify the UUID of the shared Globus endpoint. If necessary, copy the UUID from that endpoint.

        1. In a separate browser tab or browser window, log into Globus:
          http://www.globus.org Exit Disclaimer logo
        2. In Globus, navigate to the list of endpoints that are shareable by you. The shared endpoint you created is available in that list with the following description:
Shared Endpoint on <name of shareable Globus endpoint>
        3. Click the shared endpoint link. A page appears with details about that endpoint.
        4. Next to the Endpoint UUID field, click the copy icon.
        5. Return to the browser tab or window that contains MoDaC and paste the UUID.
      • Specify the endpoint (destination) path as it would appear in the Path field in the Globus File Manager. If you want MoDaC to transfer the file to the root of the shared Globus endpoint, specify a forward slash character (/) as the path. If the destination folder structure you specify does not already exist, MoDaC creates it.
    • If you are downloading a single file, you can keep the existing file name or specify a new file name.
  4. Click Download. The system transfers the data based on your selections.
  5. When the system displays the task ID, consider clicking that link to view the progress of the download. For instructions, refer to Viewing Status
