If you are logged into caNanoLab, you can add samples, protocols, and publications to My Favorites and then manage those items from one page. (For instructions, refer to Bookmarking a Sample to My Favorites, Managing Protocols in caNanoLab, and Managing Publications in caNanoLab.) My Favorites is like bookmarking for easy access.

My Favorites

My Favorites are samples, protocols, or publications that you bookmarked in caNanoLab for easy access. As a logged in user, when you click the My Favorites option on the caNanoLab menu bar, the My Favorites page appears, and lists any When you log in and click My Favorites, all of the samples, protocols, and publications that you added as favoritesbookmarked and added to My Favorites are listed on one page. You can view (where applicable), edit, and remove these favorites, and share them from this page.

All favorite samples, protocols, and publications are shown by default, but you can hide items by clicking the Samples, Protocols, and Publications boxes at the top of the page.

My Favorites Tables

The My Samples, My Protocols, and My Publications tables display the following information.

My Favorite Samples

You can review or edit a sample, or remove the sample from My Favorites.  

  1. Ensure that Samples is selected at the top of My Favorites and scroll down to My Samples.

  2. Find the sample you want to review or change. My Samples includes a column for the Sample Name and Nanomaterial Entity Description column which may or may not be complete. 

  3. Select an action as described in the following table.

    Review a sample
    Click View and the Sample page opens. For details, refer to Managing Samples in caNanoLab
    Update a sample

    Click Edit and the Update Sample page opens. For details, refer to Updating a Sample

    Remove a sample from My Favorites

My Favorite Protocols

You can review or edit a protocol, or remove the protocol from My Favorites.  

  1. Ensure that Protocols is selected at the top of My Favorites and scroll down to My Protocols.

  2. Find the protocol you want to review or change. My Protocols includes a column for the Protocol Name and Protocol File Title which may or may not be complete. 

  3. Select an action as described in the following table.

My Favorite Publications

You can review or edit a publication, or remove the publication from My Favorites.  

  1. Ensure that Publication is selected at the top of My Favorites and scroll down to My Publications.

  2. Find the publication you want to review or change. 

  3. Select an action as described in the following table.

My Workspace

When you click the My Workspace option on the caNanoLab menu bar, the My Workspace page appears. As a logged in user, any samples, protocols, and publications that you submitted appear on the page, as well as any items that were shared with you, which appear in green. You can view (where applicable), edit, delete from the database, and share listed samples, protocols, and publications.

All samples, protocols, and publications are shown by default, but you can hide items by clicking the Samples, Protocols, and Publications boxes at the top of the page.

My Workspace Tables

Green rows in My Workspace indicate that someone has shared the item with you. Rows without color are items that you bookmarked and can share with another user or group.

The My Samples, My Protocols, and My Publications tables display the following information.

Name or Title

The name of the sample, protocol, or publication defined for the item in caNanoLab.

Submission Status

Includes:

  • Pending indicates that the item was submitted for curator review.
  • Approved indicates that the item was approved by the curator and made publicly available.
  • In Draft indicates that the item was submitted by the owner but not yet reviewed by the curator.  
  • Retracted indicates that the item was deleted or the access changed so that the item is no longer publicly available.

Created Date

The date on which the item was initially submitted in caNanoLab.

Access

Indicates the access defined for the current sample, protocol, or publication.

If the column contains the following information, Owner, Shared with: username, username, it is an item that you submitted as Owner:

  • Owner is your user name.
  • Shared with is the username following the comma and the user with which you shared the item.

If the column contains the following information, Shared by: username, it is an item that another user has shared with you, and the row appears in green.

  • Shared by is your user name.
