(TBD: For each status, which description is most accurate? Legacy description or description in GUI?)
The following table explains the accepted definition and use of registration status for data elements and other administered items.
Status | Definition | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
StandardLegacy Description: The Administered Component | The Administered Item has all necessary metadata, has met all quality requirements, and has been approved for usage in all contexts. Description in GUI: An Administered Item that is of sufficient quality AND of broad interest or use by the caDSR user community. | |||
Candidate | The Administered Item | Candidate | Legacy Description: The Administered Component has all the necessary metadata, has met all quality requirements, and has been proposed for usage in all contexts. Description in GUI: An Administered Item that is proposed for progression to a higher Registration Status level and maintained under version control. | |
Qualified | The Administered Item | Qualified | Legacy Description: The Administered Component has met all quality requirements, and is ready to be reviewed for usage in all contexts. Description in GUI: An Administered Item in which all mandatory attributes are completed AND conform to applicable quality requirements (BRs). | |
Retired | The Administered Item | Retired | Legacy Description: The Administered Component is no longer recommended for use as a NCI standard. Description in GUI: An Administered Item that is no longer recommended for use by the caDSR community AND should not be reused. Retained for historic reference and research purposes. Only editorial edits permitted. | Superceded |
Superceded | The Administered Item is no longer recommended for use in the NCI community because it has been replaced by another preferred Administered Item . | |||
ApplicationLegacy Description: The Administered Component | The Administered Item is part of a computer program or application and may not have all the metadata generally required by the registry. Description in GUI: An Administered Item in a local domain application system that is not specified at the logical level. The AI may be very well described. | |||
Historical | Description in GUI: An Administered Item that was used in the past and has not passed through the dynamic, lifecycle, registration levels. | |||
Incomplete | Description in GUI: An Administered Item that is specific to a local domain and not maintained under version control. | |||
Preferred Standard | Description in GUI: An Administered Item that is preferred for use by the caDSR user community | |||
Recorded | Description in GUI: An Administered Item in which all mandatory attributes are completed and may be shared across domains. The Administered Item may not conform to all quality requirements (also known as Business Rules, BRs). |
(TBD: I need help adding 4 new rows to the following tables, one for each of the new registration statuses: Historical, Incomplete, Preferred Standard, & Recorded. Denise said the following tables might not be needed in this caDSR II page, but check with Brenda.)
The following registration statuses are assigned to administered items used across all NCI contexts. The following table explains the relationships with Workflow Statuses.
Registration Status | Workflow Status | Definition |
---|---|---|
Standard | Released | An Administered Component Item in the "Standard" status indicates that the Context Administrators confirm that the Administered Component Item is of sufficient quality and of broad interest for use in all contexts. There may be more than one "Standard" Administered Component Item that addresses the same function, concept, etc. |
Candidate | Released | An Administered Component Item in the "Candidate" status shall indicate that it has been proposed for standardization review by the Context Administrators. To be considered a "Candidate" an Administered Component Item must be promoted to a Workflow Status of "Released". |
Qualified | Released | An Administered Component Item has met all quality requirements, and is ready to be reviewed for usage in all contexts. The Context Administrators have confirmed that the mandatory metadata attributes are complete and conform to applicable quality requirements. An Administered Component Item can be assigned a "Qualified" Registration Status when it reaches one of the Workflow Statuses listed. It will be reviewed to determine if it represents an information concept of interest across contexts.
(TBD: I need help updating these 2 bullet points because "Proposed" and "Suspended" is are no longer listed in GUI.) |
Historical | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Incomplete | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Preferred Standard | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Recorded | (TBD) | (TBD). Denise said this table might not be needed in this caDSR II page, but check with Brenda.) |
The following registration statuses are assigned to administered Items that are no longer recommended across contexts or have been recorded in the registry from another source. These statuses are static and are not anticipating changes after being assigned. The following table explains the relationships with Workflow Statuses.
Registration Status | Workflow Statuses | Notes |
---|---|---|
Superceded |
| An Administered Component Item in the "Superseded" status indicates that the Context Administrators have decided that the Administered Component Item is no longer recommended for use in the registry community. A "Superseded" Administered Component Item may be used but the successor-Administered Component Item is the preference for use. Such Administered Items are retained in the Registry for historic reference purposes. |
Retired |
| A Retired Administered Component Item should not be used in new applications or studies but may continue to be used in applications or studies that were using the Administered Component Item before it was Retired. Retired Administered Items are retained in the Registry for historic reference purposes. |
Application | Released-non-compliant | Administered Items with the "Application" status may be from application systems and not have fully attributed registry metadata. |
Historical | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Incomplete | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Preferred Standard | (TBD) | (TBD) |
Recorded | (TBD) | (TBD) |
