About CTRP

NCI's Clinical Trials Reporting Program (CTRP) fulfills a recommendation made by the NCI Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG) to the National Cancer Advisory Board. The purpose of the program CTRP is designed to establish be a comprehensive database containing of regularly updated information, including accrual, on all NCI -funded supported clinical trials. Grantees enter specific information about each clinical trial into the database. NCI internally transfers to CTRP information on CTEP, CCR and DCP trials, eliminating the need for awardees to enter information on these trials. NCI uses this information to coordinate research efforts to optimize our nation's investment in cancer research. NCI initiated a phased launch of CTRP, which started January 2009, with a focus on registering interventional trials only. The registration of observational, ancillary and correlative studies will begin at a later date.

Current Release

CTRP Version 3.7 is the current release; it is currently on Production.

Tip

Whenever we release a new version of CTRP, the policy is to support the current and last two service versions. Based on this, consumers of our services should not have to upgrade more than once in any given 12 month period. With CTRP 3.6.1, we support the following versions of the services.

  • PA Services:  Versions 3.4, 3.3, 3.2
  • PO Services:  Versions 3.2, 3.1, 3.0

Project Planning and Management

We engage in Agile project development, where we focus on time-boxed iterations that result in a deployable, testable application at the end of each iteration. As part of the iterative development, we actively engage with stakeholders on a regular basis.

This comprehensive database of the entire NCI portfolio will help identify gaps in clinical research and duplicative studies, as well as facilitate effective clinical trial prioritization. To learn more about the history and goals of CTRP, visit the NCI's CTRP Web Page.

CTRP Web Applications

CTRP applications, hosted by NCI, are available to registered users. Refer to the instructions in Creating New NCI CTRP User Accounts to learn more about requesting a user account.

Two of these applications are designed specifically for members of the clinical research community; others are designed for use by NCI staff and contractors only. To learn more about which of the CTRP applications are applicable to you, visit NCI's CTRP Web Page.
