  1. Click the My Samples check box at the top of the page, find the Sample to review, and click View in the Action column.
    The Sample page opens with the following information.

    NameDefinition

    Sample Name

    The name of the sample entered in caNanoLab.

    Created DateIndicates the date on which the sample was submitted to caNanoLab.

    Keywords

    Add any keyword(s) you want associated with the selected sample, one keyword per line. You can enter something not necessarily captured by any data. The keywords you enter can be used to search for this sample ID.

    Point of Contact

    The site that is source of the sample.

    Primary Contact

    Indicating whether the point of contact is the main point of contact in the organization.

    Contact PersonA contact person at the organization.
    Organization

    The name of the organization for the point of contact.

    RoleThe role of the point of contact at the organization.
  2. To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back (  ) button, not the Browser button.

To update a Sample from My Workspace:

NameDefinition

Sample Name

The name of the sample entered in caNanoLab.

Point of Contact

  • To add additional Points of Contact, click Add. The Point of Contact dialog box displays. Add the information as needed, and click Save or Cancel. Another contact row is added.
  • To edit the Point of Contact, click Edit in the appropriate contact row. The Point of Contact dialog box displays. Modify the information as needed, and click Save or Cancel. The contact row is updated.
  • Primary Contact

Indicating whether the point of contact is the main point of contact in the organization.

  • Contact Person
A contact person at the organization.
  • Organization

The name of the organization's point of contact.

  • Role
The role of the point of contact in the organization.

Keywords

Add any keyword(s) you want associated with the selected sample, one keyword per line. You can enter something not necessarily captured by any data. The keywords you enter can be used to search for this sample ID.

Access to the Sample
  1. To add a Group Name, click Add. The Access Information panel displays. Click the Collaboration Group button, and enter a name.
    To add a User Name Login, click Add. The Access Information panel displays. Click the User button, and enter a name.
  2. If you enter a partial name, click the search icon Image Removed to select from groups or users to which you have read access.
  3. Specify whether the group or user can read only or read, update, and delete the sample.
    To remove the information that you just entered, click Remove.
  4. When you are done, click Save. The row is updated.
  • Group Name and Access
Displays the Group Name at the Organization that will have access to the sample.
  • User Login Name and Access
Displays the User at the Organization that will have access to the sample.
Data Availability Metrics
  • To display the Data Availability Metrics for the sample, click Generate. The Metrics display.
  • To edit the Metrics, click Edit. The Data Availability Metrics dialog box displays. See Data Availability Metrics for more information.

To return to the My Workspace page, click the Back ( Image Added ) button, not the Browser button.

To remove the sample from caNanoLab, click Delete. Confirm the deletion. This action deletes the sample from the caNanoLab database, executed behind the scenes at a scheduled time.

Viewing a Publication

To display a Protocol from My Workspace:

Click the My Protocols box at the top of the page, find the protocol publication to review, and click View in the Action column.

The Publication information shows on the PubMed.gov web site.

Click the My Publications box at the top of the page, find the publication,and click Edit in the row of the publication that you want to update, delete, reset, or submit.

NameDefinition

Publication Type

Select (or review) the type of publication from the drop-down list. Pre-selected if starting from within a sample.

Publication Status

If appropriate, from the drop-down list, select the appropriate status. Or if appropriate, simply review the status.

PubMed ID

The PubMed ID (can be a hypertext link). Once you enter the ID, the other appropriate data fields on this form, such as Title, Journal, Authors, etc., are automatically populated. You can enter keywords and description, however, to override the text from PubMed.

If you remove the PubMed ID, the related data fields are cleared.

Digital Object ID

Appropriate DOI

Title

Publication title. (See PubMed ID description for how to auto-populate this field)

Journal

Journal in which publication occurs.

Year of Publication

Year of the publication.

Volume

Volume of the publication

Authors

Publication authors.

Keywords

A term that can be used in a search query to find the publication.

Description

A description for the publication.

Research Category

Check (or review) the Research Category relevant to the publication.

File

Click the Browse button to navigate to the publication to be associated with the sample, or enter the URL where the publication is located.

Sample Name

One or more sample names to be associated with the publication.

Access to the Publication
