Only a logged in administrator can access A user assigned the admin user role can log in and use the Admin menu to add , update, and remove users from caNanoLab and reset user passwords.and update users. Creating a New User Account

To create a new user account

  1. Click the Admin.

  2. Click caNanoLab menu option. On the Manage Users page, click Create New User. This opens the

  3. From Create User page.Fill , fill in the following information about the user:
  4. Username

  5. user contact information. The Username and First and Last Name
  6. Organization

  7. Department

  8. Title

  9. Phone Number

  10. Email

  11. are required.
  12. Specify the user roleSelect the User Role(s) to assign to the user:, as described in caNanoLab User Roles

    1. Researcher

    2. Curator

    3. Admin

  13. Click SaveSubmit.
    A success message displays appears in red at the top of the page.

Searching for Existing Users

To search for an existing user

  1. Click Admin.

  2. ClickOn the Manage Users page, click Search Existing Users.The User Search page opens.

  3. From Search Users, in the Search Name box, enter all or part of the user's Username, or First, and/or Last Name.

     If you do not add any parameters in the User Search box, all users are returned in the results.

    The User Search Results page opens.

  4. You can edit and reset the password for any user returned by the search.

  5. On the same page, the system lists user search results with each user's username and contact information.

Editing a User Account

To edit a user's account information

  1. Search for the user.

  2. In the row of the user in From the search results, click Edit.

    INSERT

  3. You cannot edit the Username. Make your changes on the Update User page opens.

  4. Click Update.

    A success message displays in red at the top of the page.

Resetting a User Password

To reset a user password

  1. the Actions column.

    Editing a New UserImage Added

  2. On Update User, you cannot edit the Username, but you can update the remaining user information. 

  3. When you are done, click Submit. A success message appears

  4. Search for the user.
  5. In the row of the user in the search results, click Reset Password.

  6. You cannot edit the Username. Enter the old password and add a new password.  

  7. Click Reset Password.

    A success message displays in red at the top of the page.
