caBIO PORTLET TEMPLATED SEARCHES

Introduction

The Templated Search tool of the caBIO Portlet on the caGrid Portal quickly retrieves all genes that are associated with a particular disease, all of the genes associated with a particular compound, or all of the diseases and compounds that are associated with a particular gene. The Templated Search allows you to use gene, disease, and compound names or the NCI Thesaurus Concept Code associated with these names.

To use the Templated Search tool, follow the step-by-step instructions for using the Templated Search to find

The Templated Search allows you to use wild card characters as part of your search terms. If you would like to use the tool to search for any type of a given cancer (e.g., any type of ovarian cancer), try using of the "*" wild card characters, which will match zero or more characters after your search, or even "?" to replace exactly one character. For example, a search for "ovarian cancer" will return nearly 2,500 genes that are related to the term ovarian cancer, whereas "ovarian*" returns nearly 7,000 results for genes that match the terms "ovarian adenocarcinoma," "ovarian adenocarcinomas," "ovarian borderline tumor," "ovarian brenner tumor," "ovarian cancer," etc.
