If your user account has the Read, Write, or Own permission level on data in DME, you can download that data. This page describes how to download one data file at a time to your local system.

To download a data file:

  1. Log in as described in Logging In via the GUI. The Dashboard appears.
  2. Select data for download:
    • If you are familiar with the metadata, perform a detailed search for the data file, as described in Searching for Data via the GUI (or run a saved detailed search from the Dashboard). The Data File Search Results page appears. Locate the row for the file you want to download.
    • Otherwise, browse for the data file, as described in Browsing for Data via the GUI. In the detail panel, locate the row for the file you want to download.

If the amount of selected data is more than you can download, adjust your selection.

  3. Initiate the download:
    • In the search results page, click the download icon (The download icon.).
    • In the Browse page detail panel, in the row for the file you want to download, click the download icon.

    The Download page appears.

The Download page with File System selected.

  4. Select Local System. In the Download File Name field, you can keep the existing file name or specify a new file name. The destination folder structure must already exist.
  5. Click Download. The system responds as follows:
    • If the file is in deep archive, the system sends you an email notification when the file is available for download. This restoration process could take a number of hours. When an email message arrives, click the link in that message. The Download page appears again. Click Download again. The system prompts you to save the file.
    • Otherwise, the system prompts you to save the file.
