Admin permissions

A user assigned the admin user role can log in and use the Admin menu to add and update users and reset user passwords.

When you click the Admin menu, the Manage User Accounts page appears with the following options.

Creating a New User Account

To create a new user account

  1. Click the Admin caNanoLab menu option.

  2. On the Manage Users page, click Create New User. This opens the Create User page.

  3. Fill in the user information. The Username and First and Last Name is required.
  4. Specify the User Role(s) to assign to the user:

    1. Researcher

    2. Curator

    3. Admin

    Create New User
  5. Click Save.
    A success message appears in red at the top of the page.

Searching for Existing Users

To search for an existing user

  1. On the Manage Users page, click Search Existing Users.The User Search page opens.
    In the Search Name box, you can enter the user's Username, First, and/or Last Name.

    Leaving User Search Empty

     If you do not add any parameters in the User Search box, all users are returned.

    The User Search Results page opens.

  2. You can edit and reset the password for any user returned by the search.

Editing a User Account

To edit a user's account information

  1. Search for the user.

  2. In the search results row, click Edit.

  3. You cannot edit the Username. On the Update User page, make changes to the remaining user information.

  4. Click Update.

    A success message appears in red at the top of the page.

Resetting a User Password

To reset a user password

  1. Search for the user.
  2. In search results row, click Reset Password.

  3. You cannot edit the Username. On the Update User page, enter the Old Password and add a New Password.

  4. Click Reset Password.

    A success message appears in red at the top of the page.
