When a user uploads a file, that user can specify which groups can modify the metadata for that file. If you belong to one of those groups, you can modify the metadata for that file.

  1. Log in, as described in Logging In
  2. Perform a search, as described in Finding Data.
  3. In the search results, click the link for the asset of interest. The Asset Details page appears.
  4. In the row of the file for which you want to edit metadata, click the edit icon. The User Metadata page appears with the filename.
  5. Specify the information for the file:
    • To add a metadata attribute, click Add Metadata. A blank attribute row appears. Specify a unique attribute name. (Repeat for additional attributes.)
    • To delete a new attribute, click the X. To delete an existing attribute, clear the value field for that attribute.
    • Specify a value for each required metadata attribute. If an attribute value begins with http or https, DME will display it as a hyperlink in read-only fields.
  6. Click Update. A message appears, confirming the update.

To return to the Asset Details page, click Back to Asset Details. To view the metadata (one hour after the update), on the Asset Details page, click the Metadata icon (The Key System Metadata icon.) next to the filename.
