- Space Administrators can use powerful features not available to other users. Before becoming a space administrator you must be able to do the tasks explained on this page.
To perform the functions of a space administrator:
- Click the Browse Space link.
- Click the Space Admin tab or the Advanced tab (to create a template).
- Find the link on the left side for the function you want to perform.
- # Click the link and complete the dialog.
Avoid deleting the space
- Note that if you click the Remove Space link on the Space Admin tab you can inadvertently delete the space.
- Note the look of the warning that you are about to delete the space shown in the screen shot below.
- Develop the habit of hovering over Cancel while reading warnings about deleting.
View and purge pages from the Trash
- Navigate to the list of pages in the Trash (Browse Space > Trash).* Click the link next to a Page Title to Restore or Purge a page if desired.
- Hover over Cancel while reading the confirm purge message shown in the screen shot below.
- Click OK if you want to permanently delete the page.
View and manage restricted pages
- View a list of the pages that are restricted for viewing and editing that shows to whom these pages are restricted (Browse Space > Space Admin > Restricted Pages).
- Remove page restrictions if needed to make or correction or in response to a request (Click the padlock icon).
Modify the permissions for the space
- Avoid assigning permissions other than View to Anonymous (the user who is not logged in).
- Avoid assigning permissions to individual users who are not in an LDAP group associated with the space.
- Avoid assigning permissions to individual users unless you are making someone a space administrator (by checking the Space Admin tab).
- Avoid checking the Space Admin tab for a user who has not learned to perform the tasks on this page (Browse Space > Space Admin > Permissions > Edit Permissions for Individual Users).
- Associate an LDAP group with the space and assign the appropriate permissions following the steps in the tip [on setting permissions in a space|https://wiki.nci.nih.gov/x/u4B8.
Add a space template
- Navigate to Add New Space Template (Browse Space > Advanced > Templates > Add New Space Template).
- Identify the three fields in which information is entered to create a new template (Name, Description, and the editing box where you enter the wiki markup for the template).
- Navigate to the links to create a new page with and to remove the template (Browse Space > Advanced > List All Space Templates) and be prepared to use those links in testing and managing templates.
Identify and edit the space details
- View the space details (Browse Space > Advanced > Space Details).
- Note that the Space Key cannot be changed.
- Note that changing the space Name so it varies from the Space Key can cause confusion.
- Note you can enter a space description that briefly describes the content of the space.
- Note that you can set any page in the space to be the space Home Page.
- If you select a new space home page, be sure to select a high level page.
Add and modify space labels
- Add a label to the entire space provided your team agrees you should do that (Browse Space > Space Admin > Edit Space Labels > Select or type the label > Click Add).
- Add a team label to the space so it will show up on pull down list on the Team tab (left side of the Dashboard for logged in users).
- Click the link to remove a label after it has been added.
Modify the look and feel within guidelines
- Change the Theme to Confluence Classic for ease of reading (Browse Space > Space Admin > Themes > Click the button next to Confluence Classic > Click Confirm).
- Change the space logo (if the team wishes to change it) to one approved by NCI for the team (Browse Space > Space Admin > Change Space Logo).
- If using the Custom Colour Scheme with a picker for each element, select colors according to an established NCI color scheme; otherwise use the defaults (Browse Space > Space Admin > Colour Scheme).
Avoid using the features not supported for NCI

- Mailbox Import
- Import Pages from Disk
